Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Angel Terziev ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Motum iOS and watchOS application (the "App").

1. Data That Stays on Your Device

Everything you create with Motum is stored locally, in the App's own database on your iPhone and Apple Watch:

• Workouts — activity type, duration, distance, pace, elevation, splits, and laps.
• GPS routes — the location points recorded during your workouts.
• Profile settings — optional details such as age or weight used for calorie and power estimation, plus your unit and display preferences.

None of this is transmitted to us or to any third party. There is no cloud backup operated by us, no server-side copy, and no way for us to see your workouts. This is an architectural fact, not just a promise: the App contains no server endpoint that accepts workout, location, or health data.

2. Apple Health

If you grant access, Motum reads from and writes to Apple Health (HealthKit) on your device — for example reading your heart rate during a workout and saving completed workouts back. Health data is exchanged only between the App and Apple Health, locally on your device. We never receive it, and per Apple's rules HealthKit data is never used for advertising or shared with third parties. Details: how Motum uses Apple Health and how Motum uses your location.

3. Data That Leaves Your Device

Three narrow categories of technical data are sent to Google Firebase, the service we use for app diagnostics:

• An anonymous identifier. On first launch the App silently creates an anonymous Firebase user. No name, email, or password is ever collected — the identifier exists only so we can count distinct installs and group crash reports. It cannot be linked to your identity by us.
• Usage analytics (optional). Anonymous product events such as "a workout was started", "a workout was saved", or "the layout editor was opened", with aggregate values like duration and distance. Analytics never include your GPS coordinates, your routes, or any Apple Health values. Collection uses no advertising identifier (IDFA) and no ad-tracking signals. You can turn it off at any time in Settings → General → Share Analytics.
• Crash reports. If the App crashes, a technical report (stack trace, device model, OS version) is sent via Firebase Crashlytics so we can fix the bug. Crash reports contain no workout, location, or health data.

As with any internet service, Firebase processes your IP address and basic device information (model, OS version, language) in transit. See Firebase's privacy documentation.

4. What We Don't Do

• We don't sell or share your personal information — we don't have it in the first place.
• We don't show ads and don't use any advertising or tracking SDKs.
• We don't require an account, email address, or any sign-in.
• We don't upload your workouts, routes, or health data anywhere.

5. Tips (In-App Purchases)

Motum is free. If you choose to leave an optional tip, the payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details — we only receive Apple's confirmation that a tip was made.

6. Exporting and Sharing Your Data

You can export any workout as a GPX file from within the App. Exports are created on your device and shared only where you choose to send them.

Diagnostic logs. The App keeps technical log files on your device to help diagnose problems. From a hidden diagnostics screen you can choose to export these logs — for example to email them to support. Because the logs describe what the App was doing, they can include technical details such as the names of files you loaded, error messages, timings, and device information. They do not include your GPS coordinates or heart-rate values — that data is written only at a "verbose" detail level that is permanently disabled in the released App and cannot be turned on. These logs are never sent automatically and never uploaded to a server we operate; they leave your device only when you explicitly choose to share or email them, and only to the destination you pick (such as angel@angelterziev.com). You can delete the stored logs at any time from the same screen.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Your workout data is retained on your device until you delete it. You are in full control:

• Delete individual workouts at any time in the App.
• Use Settings → Delete All Data to permanently erase every workout, all settings, and your anonymous identifier from the device, and to delete the anonymous Firebase user. The App returns to its first-launch state.
• Uninstalling the App removes its local database from your device.

Anonymous analytics and crash data held by Firebase are retained per Google's standard retention periods. If you want us to request deletion of data tied to your anonymous identifier, contact us at angel@angelterziev.com.

8. Your Rights

Under the GDPR and similar laws you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data. Because Motum stores your data on your own device, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the App (see section 7). For anything relating to the anonymous diagnostic data described in section 3, contact us at angel@angelterziev.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can remove it.

10. International Data Transfers

The anonymous diagnostic data described in section 3 is processed by Google Firebase and may be stored on servers outside your country, subject to safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Your workout, location, and health data are not transferred anywhere — they remain on your device.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the App. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
